The following are my beliefs and what I believe to be the resolutions:
Offshore Drilling: Do it. Drill offshore, stop letting those other countries stick it to us. Get a long lasting solution NOW, rather than wasting 100 billion dollars on alternate fuel sources. It's time. Gas prices are high when they culd be low. We can't wait for these "alternate fuel sources" that will be twice as expensive to be developed.
NuclearWeapons: No. We neither need them or should have any desire to use them. Though this may seem hypocritical to the previous statement, it makes sense to have them on stand by, for real emergencies. Other than that I don't think we need them to be of regular use.
Global Warming: I am still a firm believer that this so called "Global Warming" is a myth. Sorry--well, actually, I'm not...I believe that global warming is a natural process that we are energizing and makin go more rapidly. The answer:Control th number of pollutants you release. This does not mean hairspray or other HARMLESS things.

Offshore Drilling

What is one of the biggest issues effecting main street citizens today? If you guessed the soaring cost of oil you are correct. Plain and simple: the country providing our gas hates America, as do many other countries. They hate our freedoms, our ideas and all that we stand for. But what can they do about it? Attack us with bombs and military? Absolutely not, because we are ten times as powerful as them. So they have taken the one thing that we rely on them for. The weakness of the United States and that is our ultimate reliance on oil. They’ve jacked up the prices, which we can do nothing about. BUT, what we CAN do is stop relying on them for our oil needs, but how?
Our country is committing the main thing that George Washington warned against in his Farewell Address and that’s relying on foreign sources for a necessity of our country. If we can make a way to get our own oil, then gas prices will take a hit and we won’t need all of our gas imported from other countries! And guess what: there is another way, and it’s not wasting billions of dollars on “alternate fuel sources” that could take years to develop! It’s drilling offshore, where there are reserves of oil under the sea. This process (contrary to popular belief) is not harmful to the environment and costs MILLIONS less than “alternate fuel sources”.
Another question: what exactly are average American families supposed to do while these “amazing ‘healthy planet’ environmentally safe” fuel sources are in the development process? Continue paying four bucks a gallon for fuel? We can’t last much longer on these terms. This is what Barack Obama is suggesting: That we continue with what we are doing currently while he “invests” away our tax money towards other fuel when it’s right underneath us!!!!!! Does that make any sense at all?! John McCain’s ideas are much more practical. We drill offshore and in the Alaska reserves and stop relying on these other countries who just want to stick it to us. And then we use money LEFTOVER from a government budgeting system to find cleaner fuel. But that in no way will be a top priority of our country. This is hoe it should be.

Nuclear Weapons

As many people all know nuclear weapons are deadly and not to be taken lightly. A lot of people know about the tragedy of Hiroshima when we dropped an atomic bomb on them. It killed thousands instantly, injured more, and the radiation poisoning took care of the rest. So why remind you of this horrible piece of history? Because without history we are doomed to repeat the mistakes of the past.
After the initial blast of a nuclear weapon or bomb, the contamination process begins. These types of weapons are filled with a lethal chemical called Chernobyl which is part of what killed so many in Hiroshima. Alongside of that, the area around the target immediately heats to tens of millions of degrees Fahrenheit. A while after that cools there is a great amount of electromagnetic radiation, there is not much chance of survival from nuclear bombs.
Surprisingly, the political candidates are in agreement on this issue. Both believe that the world can survive without nuclear weapons. They cause so much damage and could severely injure our country if we were hit with one. Other countries are continuing to develop them though and I believe a common goal is to halt their production as well. If we have other countries dangling their knowledge over us we could wind up at their mercy and we CANNOT afford for that to happen.

Global Warming by: Rachel Madsen

The ideas behind global warming are actually pretty simple. Greenhouse gasses capture heat here on Earth and stay there in order to keep the surface warm. After a while more and more unnatural sources for greenhouse gasses were emitted into the atmosphere, so much that it created a thick layer over top of the surface of the Earth. These gasses remain in the atmosphere for more than fifty years so they can obviously be very damaging to our planet. As these gasses build up and sit in the atmosphere, apparently, the temperature of Earth rises. Over the past few centuries, the overall temperature of the Earth has increased one entire degree Fahrenheit. The controversial question facing us is whether or not these ideas are true or if it is a natural heating process?
If in fact the ideas proposed are true, then we are going to face big problems in the oh so near future. First of all, the effects have already become costly. We have dedicated millions of dollars already to support research for alternate fuel sources so as not to do the atmosphere more harm. Also in the long run it has been bad for the economy. People who believe in global warming have stopped buying certain products to “preserve” (or are they just being cheap?) Not to mention, people have taken a hit. We hear that rides in planes, driving a car, or even using HAIRSPRAY are bad for the environment! No one wants to be a planet hater so basically we get screwed over because we feel we shouldn’t use certain products. On top of that fuel efficient products are TWICE as expensive as regular!
The political parties have contradicting and corresponding views on global warming. The conservative party wants to drill offshore and drill in Alaska and stop relying on other countries for our oil. With EXTRA money republicans want to work on alternate sources for fuel. The Democratic Party also wants to halt reliance on other countries. But they are critically opposed to offshore drilling and drilling in Alaska. Part of the liberal platform is investing BILLIONS (with a B) in alternate fuel sources, when the answer is right underneath us (literally). To conclude, I believe the myth must be busted.
